Mark Landon
By John, on January 18th, 2012

I’m sure you’ll remember our summer concert last July when John Doyle and Mark Landon came to spend the day with us and entertain us at our summer concert. Mark enthralled us all with his lightening quick playing of the xylophone. Well we weren’t the only ones to be impressed, 4barsrest (a leading website on the world of brass) compiled an end of year report on the banding world and this is what they said about Mark;
“Perhaps the most complete all rounder in the banding world at present. Showed his qualities all season without ever once hogging the limelight. That’s a very rare talent in a percussion player – and his is a very rare talent.”
Quite a complement! Well done Mark.

Training Band Join the WBB!
If you are learning to play an instrument and would like to join the band do come to visit us during Training Band rehearsals. These take place every Thursday night at 19:00h at the Uplands Community College in the centre of Wadhurst.
Whether you are 9 or 90 years old you are welcome to ‘pop by’. You’ll get the chance to listen to rehearsals, put questions to the director and members of the band or talk about your musical ambitions.
To join the band you need a little musical knowledge and a beginner’s level proficiency with your instrument. Nevertheless, if you are considering a start from scratch, what better place to see, hear and feel what instrument may suit you! The band’s members will be able to give advice about getting started, find teachers and adequate tuition books. There are no fees, charges and no commitments other than loving music.
Pluck a little courage to knock on the door. But just in case you feel shy just to show up, you can contact Jenny Cooper by email, who is in charge of the training band.
